Moco de Gorilla

When we were recently in Mexico we made an excursion to the grocery store. I just love looking at the different products and how different people solve different problems in their life.

One interesting product we found was this "Moco de Gorilla". It's hair gel. Do you know what the word "moco" means? Look it up in Google Language Tools.

The gel comes in various thicknesses.

Rosie is Back!

Who is Rosie?

Rosie is my Macbook. (Don't laugh.)

When Philip and I flew home from Mexico last week I booted her up on the airplane to begin the process of sorting pictures and I couldn't see her screen. You can imagine my panic.

Turns out some flux capacitor that provided the backlight for her screen was broken. She's all better now after a brief trip to the Macbook Intensive Care unit somewhere in Tennessee.

Welcome back girl, I've missed you.

My Review of El Dorado Maroma

Philip and I were fortunate to go to the El Dorado Maroma on a recent weekend. We found this newest resort on Maroma Beach to be delightful. The official name of the resort is: "El Dorado Maroma, a Beachfront Resort by Karisma". Originally the name was to be MiHotelito (my little hotel). The owners of this resort also the other two ElDorado resorts El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Seaside Suites). Ultimately the decision was made to brand this all adult resort as an El Dorado. The El Dorado Maroma shares the Gourmet Inclusive feature with the others. The same romantic resort atmosphere reigns supreme. Perfect for weddings, honeymoons and romantic vacations, the resort has gourmet cuisine and is situated in restful surroundings.

With only 72 suites, the resort is never crowded. Four restaurants as well as 24 hour room service assure that you'll never go hungry. A complete spa is available with elaborate spa treatments. The resort shares premises with Marina Maroma where every watersport imaginable is available along with ATVs and horseback riding. There is also a wedding chapel available for indoor weddings and a variety of beachfront outdoor settings for your perfect destination wedding on Maroma Beach.

We had the MiHotelito Beachfront room category. The 24 beachfront rooms in this section are the original rooms of the hotel. They are the closest to the beach. The terraces are literally steps from the beach. The first floor rooms in this section are my favorite. There are beds on each terrace as well as a table and two chairs. We spent hours laying on the bed reading and drinking cool drinks.

I felt immediately comfortable upon checking in at the resort. There was none of the angst of not knowing exactly how to find a certain restaurant, or how to get to the pool from my building. They don't even hand out resort maps upon checking in, it simply isn't necessary. Everything is just a few steps away. If you're looking for a quiet vacation with great food, plenty of activities available but not required, top notch spa services, call us and let us tell you more about the El Dorado Maroma.

Maroma Beach is considered to be one of the best beaches in the world by many authorities including the Discovery Channel.

I just sent this to the owner of Lomas Travel in Mexico

Dear Dolores,

I just got off the phone with my client. They just returned from the Sandos Caracol where they stayed from January 3 until January 7. On their last day, Alena (5 years
old) slipped and fell on the pool deck. As it turned out, the injury required stitches.

The Lomas representative, Oscar Medina, went above and beyond the call of duty in his care of these guests. He escorted them to the hospital, stayed with them at the hospital, assured that their flight was changed (since the injury happened on the day they were to return home they missed their scheduled flight), made arrangements for a place for them to stay that night, returned the next morning to assure the transfer had arrived as planned.

The guests were overwhelmed with his kindness toward them. They attempted to give him a generous tip, which he refused.

It is situations like these when we are reminded how fortunate we are to have Lomas taking care of our customers when they are in your beautiful destination. Oscar made the difference between what could have been a terrifying situation and made it into a shining example of Mexican hospitality.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Wii are having fun.

For Christmas my son received a Nintendo Wii. I wasn't all that enthusiastic about another screen entering our lives. If you remember, Bob was one of my best purchases of 2007. We go to great lengths to limit our kids screen time.

That said, we have had more fun playing Wii Sports and Tiger Woods Golf as a family. It brings us all together from the far corners of our house and we all have fun doing something fun together.
